When do I need dental X-rays?

Types of dental radiographs
Our clinic takes two types of X-rays: dental X-rays and panoramic X-rays.
Dental X-ray
This is an X-ray of one or more teeth. A dental radiograph is an easy and simple way to get a wealth of information about the tooth and the hard tissues around it. The photo gives a good view of the root canals, their location and length, as well as the size of the bony pockets and dental caries.
Dental X-rays are taken to assess the condition of 1-3 teeth; to monitor the progress of treatment; to clarify the diagnosis; to assess the results of treatment; and to decide on the next treatment tactic.

The photo shows a general view of the whole mouth. This is a very important diagnostic tool in dentistry. It covers the entire mouth and surrounding areas, so that the dentist can see radiological images of all the teeth, the upper and lower jaws and adjacent anatomical structures. Panoramic X-rays are usually taken when major prosthetic work is planned; when surgical operations such as implants are planned; when it is important to accurately assess the periodontal condition; when orthodontic treatment is planned; and when it is difficult to identify the source of tooth pain.

Safety of X-ray examinations
